Starting Strength Coach

Joyce Luke has been coaching the barbell lifts since 2005 and opened her own barbell club, Luke’s Barbell Club, now a Starting Strength Gym, in 2010.

She has a Masters degree in Sport Psychology and has been an athlete for most of her life, having played basketball from grade school to professional level, started and competed in Olympic Weightlifting in her 30’s, and holds a North American record in Kettlebell Sport. Joyce has helped hundreds of people get healthy and strong, and was a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with NSCA, and a Certified Weightlifting Coach with USAW before becoming the first Starting Strength Coach in Austin, TX.
