ABOUT
Cassi Niemann, owner of CASstrong, is a certified Starting Strength Coach and UCanRow2 Concept2 Master Rowing Instructor who helps people of all ages and capabilities build stronger, more useful bodies through conditioning and strength training. She offers both in-person and online coaching in Richmond, Virginia, for both basic barbell training and indoor rowing. The two can also easily be combined when there is interest. Prior barbell and/or rowing experience is a plus, but not at all necessary!

Cassi believes that conditioning and strength training leads to healthier and happier people – and ultimately, a more awesome life. When not training others, Cassi is a competitive powerlifter and novice strongman athlete, as well as a masters rower with Virginia Boat Club. You can also find her as a co-host of the popular podcast called More Female Strength (www.morefemalestrength.com) which is about strength and culture from the more female perspective.

    Cassi is an amazing coach. I’ve done her online coaching for over a year now, never having done any barbell training before. I was nervous about whether I could do it, but the tools Cassi gave me and the motivation she provides have made such a difference. I LOVE getting my feedback from Cassi after every session, her cues and tips have improved my form and given my boosts exactly when I need it.     Supportive, understanding, and personal. Cassi truly cares about me, even when I’m not at my best. She supports me when I’m doing well and when I’m not (but somehow keeps me on track). She understands that life has lots of demanding factors. She gets to know me individually and cares about me personally. Wait! She’s also fun as can be. We can joke online while workings towards a goal.

    Cassi is the best! I showed up at Richmond Balance with a general interest in exercising with weights, but no background in powerlifting or Starting Strength. Cassi encouraged me to join a small group powerlifting class and proved to be a phenomenal coach. She’s kind, patient, encouraging, and determined to challenge you to do your best. Cassi also radiates a positivity and sense of inclusion that affects everyone around her. Richmond Balance became my safe haven during a pretty tough year — a place where everyone and every body was welcome and supported. Thanks to Cassi, I fell in love with powerlifting, reached solid intermediate status, and felt stronger than I ever had before in my life. When I moved away to Philly, I reached back to out Cassi for a few months of online coaching, during which Cassi provided the same excellent programming and feedback. If I’m ever in need of a coach, Cassi will always be my first call.

    In addition to powerlifting, Cassi also provides excellent nutrition coaching. Thanks to her guidance (and macro counting), I lost over 30 pounds during the course of six months. It’s a year later and I’ve kept the weight off — and retained a positive, healthy approach to food.

    Cassi is a model of what good coaching should be. I highly recommend her for everyone.

    I really enjoy working with Cassi on my strength training! I have been working with her online for almost two months now and feel much stronger than when I started! She understands my concerns when I have them and quickly addresses any questions I have! Her feedback on my workouts are extremely helpful! Cassi is a fantastic coach and I would recommend her to anybody!
